Chlorogalum pomeridianum
Member of
soap plants (genus Chlorogalum)
century plant subfamily (subfamily Agavoideae)
asparagus family (family Asparagaceae)
monocots (class Liliopsida)
white, other colors in flowering plants
maybe I could distinguish var. pomeridianum from var. divaricatum, but it's unlikely that I'd ever be able to distinguish var. minus, especially since FNA disagrees greatly with Jepson about its size.
The leaves are wider, wavier, duller, and paler green than irises (genus Iris).
“It is occasionally known as the ’wild potato,’ but given the plant’s lack of either resemblance or relationship to the potato, this name is not recommended.” [source]
