- phyllary tips erect or reflexed, flat
- phyllaries extend partway up petal (example)
- 25–80 disk flowers, staminate
- 5–22 ray flowers, 4–20 mm, relatively narrow petals, bright yellow, often maroon at base
- scattered, especially south of the bay
